How We Met
Two minutes apart for years, but a lifetime meant to be.
Although Tyler and Sylvia grew up just two minutes apart, life had its own timing. It wasn’t until the summer of 2018, when they both found themselves working at Slyman’s Tavern, that their paths finally crossed.
What began as a simple summer job quickly turned into something much more—a chance encounter that blossomed into a beautiful love story.

The Proposal
Tyler went above and beyond to make the proposal unforgettable. With the help of Sylvia’s managers and assistant, he arranged for her to have the day off and planned what seemed like a perfect girls’ day. Sylvia started her morning with her little sister, Stephanie, enjoying a sister breakfast before meeting her best friend, Alexandra. Both were secretly in on the plan. The afternoon was spent getting dressed up and taking fun photos at different spots—completely unaware that something much bigger was in store.
Tyler coordinated with Sylvia’s nail tech, Kayla, to make sure her nails were picture-perfect for the occasion. Finally, the group headed to Mentor Headlands Beach for photos, where Tyler was waiting, both excited and nervous. As Sylvia walked toward the beach, she jokingly whispered to her friends about ‘a guy staring at them,’ not realizing it was Tyler himself.
When she recognized him, her heart skipped a beat. Hand in hand, they walked along the sand until Tyler dropped to one knee and asked Sylvia to spend forever with him. With happy tears and the easiest ‘yes’ she’d ever said, their friends and family suddenly appeared from all sides of the beach, rushing to celebrate the beautiful moment together. It was everything Tyler had hoped for and more—the perfect beginning to their forever.
